I did the Navy hook landing for the first 3 years.
Round out at 70.
Drag the tailwheel
Hold off the mains til you get a full stall.
Since it's done flying, keeping it straight is easier and slower.
But in the fourth year I tired of buying 2 or 3 tailwheels per year. So I fabricated a bigger fork to accommodate a 2 X 2.5 X 4" tire and tube. I turned up the wheel halves on my lathe.
I come in at 70 over the fence
Place the nose for a 3 point.
At touchdown, that bigger tailwheel nudges the aircraft forward onto the mains for a wheel landing.
I let the tail settle down again while I'm braking.
