Going through some drawings I see the one for a leading edge slot in the wing suggests 1.5° washout as an alternative and it got me wondering which one was better.

Slots were once popular on certified airplanes but seem to have fallen out of vogue. No doubt the washout builds faster and maybe lighter, but a twist in the wing brings baggage of its own.
