Hi all, I'm looking for anyone who has practical experience with the process and paperwork behind taking a certified aircraft into the experimental/exhibition category. The stated purpose of this conversion would be to allow exhibition of the potential technological and performance improvements available with modern engine technology. The practical goal here is to take a Commander 112TC that's approaching end-of-life on a certified TO-360 that no one wants anything to do with overhauling, and refit it with a ULPower 520T, along with other required changes (e.g. battery relocate to keep CG in bounds, engine mount and cowling redesign, etc). There's some chance I wait until MOSAIC permits this (if it will, and when it will); there's some chance I never do it due to costs or other issues... but I'd like to at least understand what the process looks like. I do understand up front that this would take the resale value to approximately zero, and I'm okay with that.
