I'm starting on my baffles...looking at the ^ shape you have at the top it would suggest gaps between the cowling which is more ( than <. What was the reason for this angular shape?
 
got the bulkhead glassed in place behind the spinner plate inside the cowling, will try and fly today to see how this does.I appreciate everyone's input.
 
Talked with Joe today at revmaster and found out the cht probe wasn't suppose to be under the spark plug according to him, so i moved it to the correct location and got the cht down to 400 in cruise at 3200 rpm, all other temps & pressures are good. the engine came out of a quickie an i guess that owner moved the probe. still need to get the cht below 400 in cruise, got a few more ideas.
 
On one of the studs of the no. 4 (left rear) cylinder. FWIW I've had it there as well as at the plug and there is a 100 degree F difference. To my way of thinking a correspondingly lower temperature limit should apply if you use the stud. So if your red line is, say, 450 at the plug use 350 at the stud.

Myself I will stick with mine under the spark plug. Seems on the stud you are reading heat from the head after it looses some of its heat do to the cooling fins. I also use one on each cylinder.

I limit my CHT temps to 400 degree's with the probe under the spark plug. If it reaches 400 I am backing down on the throttle and or leaning.

Aeroconversions recommends placing the CHT probe under a top cylinder head bolt on the #4 cylinder. This gives a better indication of the overall temp of the cylinder head.
 
Tony, you show a C65 for an engine in your Sonerai? On a VW, Daddo has it right.

I have a revmaster vw on my sonerai and Joe at revmaster told me where to put it according to his building manual. mine is at the rear cylinder head
 
The sonerai does indeed have an A-65. I have yet to fly that airplane. But my daily flier has a VW. So on my VW I should put the probe under the jug hold down nut, or on the stud that holds the jug to the case? The airplane you see in my profile pic has a vw engine. It might only be half a VW engine but it is still a VW engine.
