Hello everyone. I purchased a Quad City Challenger 1 Clip Wing back in April 2024 and read that it is supposed to have full-length double-tube spars (one tube inside the other). I checked mine and it does not. My understanding is that this was done to maintain what I feel is an insane load limit of +7G/-4G. Not wanting to have an improperly built aircraft, my first thought was to call the manufacturer and check the price of the spars. I was pretty surprised to find that the price was quite a bit more than what I expected, and I'm pretty sure that I can find aluminum tubes of the same alloy and length but with twice the wall thickness for less (and maybe a lot less). Would there be a problem with just using single-tube spars with twice the wall thickness of the original, or is anyone aware of a reason why the double-tube spar setup was the direction the factory decided to go?
