Has anybody ever heard of pneumatically damped gear struts? What I mean is, the strut is made of a little tube sliding in a big tube with a spring or rubber discs or bungees for shock absorption and the end of the little tube has a seal to make it more or less air-tight. At the sealed top end of the big tube are a small hole (always open) and a big hole (closed by a flap to let air out but not in). In theory that should help with bounce on landing.
