This is a photo taken by my Uncle Virgil Haynes in Chartres France, 1945.
I always thought the plane was a B 17 but when I recently looked at a B 17 more closely I realized the prop in the photo was too high above the ground to be a B 17.
I think this was one of Virgil’s favorite photos because of the pieceful Sunday morning mist and the cathedral in the background prior to the daily missions of the containing war efforts.
Not a lot of clues but there are some pretty sharp cookies in this box.
