Is anyone doing this? With Sitka spruce availability seeming spotty at best and alternative woods like pines and firs being on either side of what we traditionally see as ideal for aircraft, could you laminate up a Cub-style slab spar to be fir at the caps and pine in between? Is anyone out there doing that already? Is there some sort of false economy to it that I’m not seeing?
