The reason the engine did not go back to Hutter Performance is because they are 1200 miles from my home. There are good shops here who are fully qualified to do an engine diagnosis.
Just got back from Calvert Racing Engines. They are doing the tear down.
The first thing they said was..."Wow, this engine got HOT!"
The engine has a very strong residual odor of burnt electrical wiring. The rings are micro-welded into the pistons. You can't move them. The cylinders are polished, shiny, with the cross hatching pretty much gone. I think the oil rings may be Ok, but the compression rings are toasted.
The head is warped.
The inside looks amazingly clean. They expected to see more carbon, or lead build up. I expected to see lead. There was a very small amount of what looked like a dark gray ash on top and on the edges of some pistons. But it was a minute amount.
