I have tried flattening a 1" 0.090 Tube with little success. I have a 2 ton press (homebuilt) a 5" vice and a brazing gas torch. I heated the tube until it was cherry red on one side and used the vice to flatten the end. Result was a slightly flat end. Has anyone successfully used such crude tools to flatten the end of a similar tube? Or should I look to changing the design?
