Now that the Wood family have generously put Stephen K. Wood's Sky Pup "Construction Text" into the public domain, and are offering plans again for sale, I am intrigued by the idea of using this platform for electric propulsion under Part 103. Not looking to set records. Just to build an enjoyable local runabout (in good weather) outside of the purview of the FAA. The Sky Pup was designed for 15-20 hp.

According to Tim Shupert on the Sky Pup FB forum, "The recommended weight for firewall forward is 62 lbs and then it can handle about 4 gal of fuel also so 24 more lbs max. With that if you can keep the total front weight of the full electric power and battery's under 86 lbs and get 100 lbs of thrust or more then it's possible."

Is there an obvious motor/battery combo to make this happen?
With that weight limit, what duration/range could be possible?

I admit to being a neophyte in all things electric.
