Airfoil selection, inner vs outer

This is for the same three-panel wing idea I'm working through.

Middle third is straight, 8.5' in span, holds a narrow fuselage and two small engine nacelles, and is riveted aluminum with a single spar and a flap of some sort. Outer sections are ~8', fabric-covered, single wood spar with a plywood d-cell leading edge and a straight taper ratio of ~0.6-0.7. 70-80 sq ft total area. Target speed is 140-160mph CAS, ~3-5x10^6 rn, with a ~1300lb gross weight, so .2-.4 LC in cruise.

This setup lends itself nicely to using two different airfoils, smoothly transitioning between, say, ~ rib 1 and 3 of the outer section.

My first thought is to just ape something that already seems to work well, which is Mooney Mite's 64-215 middle and 2412 outer (same incidence throughout?...).

Flap situation aside, are those good choices for cruising airfoils that aren't too dangerous? Or are there better selections these days?

* Mooney moved on to a 63-215 and 64-412 for the M20, which seems to give a better cruising wing, but it's an all-aluminum design.
