I'm buying a plane that has less than 50 hours on it but hasn't flown for over 20 years. It has a Mosler 1915 engine, last run a few years ago. I would like to revive the engine if possible and I'm hoping to draw on the expertise of this group for help. The plane and engine look quite good externally. The engine was not pickled. It pulls through and seems to have good compression. Can this be made into a reliable power plant without a complete teardown? Are there critical parts (seals?) that should be checked or replaced? How should I prep the engine before trying to start it? Thanks.
