I just came across a new (to me) development in the aircraft engine market. A company called Nagel Engine is developing a 12 Cylinder, horizontally opposed, water cooled, turbocharged, 450 HP engine. It develops its max HP at 4400 RPM but incorporates a built in 2:1 reduction within the case of the engine. Supposedly it weighs about the same as a TIO-540 but produces about 150 more HP. It is supposed to be cheaper to buy and cheaper to maintain. I guess we will just have to see about that :rolleyes: . Click the picture below to go to their website.
