Okay, maybe not >directly< related to airplanes.
In the attached 30 minute video, a Scottish video blogger gives an interesting history of the several VW Beetles brought to Antarctica by Aussie and Kiwi govt research teams. Despite the -50C temps and brutally rough ice driving surfaces, the cars did very well. They had some minor modifications and ran very thin oil ("5-zz"?). VW got some good PR from the whole thing. These cars were minor celebrities down under, and 2 of them came home and won rally races.
The video has lots of movie clips of the cars running in the snow.
Ah, the little engine that gets the job done.
