Random thoughts of couch engineering...
Curious if any one knows the amount of clearance between the top of an LS3 intake and the cowling of a RV-10?
Seems that if there was enough clearance, then a very long runner intake could be 3D printed and thus shift the entire usable power band lower in the RPM range.
I'm picturing something that would resemble the 1993 Mustang Cobra intake with it's long runners and offset plenum, just married to an LS3. Or dual throttle bodies via something that resembled an Edelbrock cross-ram.
Theoretically - the LS3 with a long runner intake and a matched custom cam could produduce similar power per RPM as an IO540. ...and I am not inferring about trying to run the prop from the crank. There would still be a PSRU in play in this scenario, just with a different reduction ratio.
