Original builder trusted in heat conduction up the short intake manifolds to prevent Carb Ice. The plane has flown a good bit and I expect he would have changed it if it needed it. Sadly he has passed and the set up worries me.

Thought I could add these 20W heating pads. They have a small/light thermostatic control and sensor that reads temp. Four 20W pads give a tonne of heat for about 6amps.

Thoughts?
