Hello and good morning ladies and gentlemen.

Please excuse the naivety of this question. I posted a few months back about various air craft types, i have since begun building my own plane, a Ch701 ( recently finished the tail kit ) and am waiting on the next kit set.

I have been humming and hawing about engines my current plan is the rotax 912 ULS but i really enjoy reading about others fwf setups. I am curious, why are the various VW air cooled based options rated at such Low HP? I see the automotive side of this engineering and guys are building naturally aspirated engines making almost twice the power advertised by the aircraft designs. I really like the concept of the Motorav out of brazil and the revmaster r3000 but are those designs dea?

just thinking out loud here.
Thanks!
