Anybody have good ways to locate blind holes to replace interior trim?

The trim on my plane is missing, so I bought new. However not sure how to locate the existing holes. I have, or could make hole finders, but these are not flat parts so it is difficult to follow the trim profile. Thought about making some pins that fit in the holes to imprint on the plastic or use some putty with some double sided tape.... not sure if any of these will work well. Other ideas or how did you do it?
