Hi all,
I saw the topic about accelerated flight training and, for a second, thought I would join that thread. But then I thought I was looking for something slightly different, so I started a new thread.
I am located in Pennsylvania. I have a European Private Pilot License (low time) that expired after I changed countries almost 16 years ago.
Due to many circumstances, such as work, family, COVID-19, and the like, I have so far failed to get a US pilot license.
I tried twice. The first time, 26 hours, on helicopter (Schweizer 300 & R44), the second time on LSA, 9 hours so far. Helicopter training ended after a change in instructor and COVID coming up, and a growing realization that even experimental helicopters are not that cheap.
The second attempt has not entirely ended, but it came to a halt after my instructor left for the airline. Unfortunately, my job doesn't give me much flexibility, so I am one of those guys who has to do most of the training in the evening or during the weekend.
I am an EAA member and considered their sport pilot academy, which would be ideal. Unfortunately, I cannot take off work for three weeks in a row.
However, I would be willing to travel and take off a week at a time if I could find a place that would allow me to complete this license.
I searched the internet quite extensively for Sport Pilo Training, and there seem to be some options, but they are far away. I will try if nothing else comes up, but maybe somebody here knows something that is more local, like southeast PA or northern Maryland, Delaware, or New Jersey.
I appreciate every suggestion.
Thanks,
Chris
