I plan to use a 2A042 engine in the MiniMAX I'm building. I have two of the engines, plus some new rebuild parts if they need to be freshened.

Each one currently has a prop hub. One is a cut down flywheel with a large diameter, 4 bolt pattern and would need a specially built prop. The other has a more conventional looking prop hub but it's steel and weighs 3.5#. It has a more conventional Rotax (I believe) 6 bolt hub with a 3 1/8" bolt circle. The 2A042 crankshaft has a tapered area and uses a large nut to tighten the hub to the crankshaft.

I would like to have the steel hub duplicated in aluminum and hopefully save about 1.5#. A local machine shop said they don't have the equipment to do a keyway in the tapered bore of the hub, or perhaps he just would rather not mess with it. Does anyone have the equipment to machine a prop hub or maybe have a machinist who would/could do it? While I was having one done I would like to get at least 2 or possibly more since I think there are still a few people using the 2A042 or 4A084 engines, or might like to.

I would use the cut down flywheel hub too but don't know who I might contact to make a prop with the needed large diameter hub area to accommodate it's large 4 bolt pattern.

Suggestions are welcome!

Lynn
