I have a Lazair Series 2 with original UltraFlight floats and live on a Lake.
I'll be working to get it flight ready this year but all the video's I've seen show it struggling to get off the water.
Its got 2 rotax 185 engines (~9hp) direct drive props and I'm thinking it will need more power.
I figure there are serveral options, like modifying the engine to produce more power, adding a redrive to swing a bigger more efficient prop or going to a more powerful engines like a Rotax 277.
I'm aiming for reliability and light weight so more displacement and not too high compression is a good idea.
Armalite has plenty of suggestions about Rotax 277's but Im wondering how much they weigh compared to the 185's.
