The stretch plans I have only show the main gear mounted by bolt through the gear. I also have a set of non-stretch plans that show mounting the gear with a strap. I like the strap better, is there a reason not to do this on the stretch?

No reason that I know of, except it adds extra weight. Thats the way I built my stretch, with the straps.
