I don't understand what section/position at the FAA regulates ultralights (UL). Is that even a thing someone is the head of? Is it not apparent because UL are not "defined as aircraft"? If a new section just for ultralights were established would it be an appointed position or a different process. Whatever it is called, would they go through the same notice of policy changes, comment period, etc. However unlikely, can the FAA decide the max weight limit is now 1000 lbs? I have a lot of these but I'll try to pace myself. Any insight is appreciated.
