Hi all,

For those experienced in aircraft electrical systems, there might be a very obvious answer to my question, but I am unfortunately not one of the above and don't know the answer. So please bear with me here.

I just installed my Dynon heated pitot tube and the controller. The run of the power and ground wire is likely over 16', so the manual asked for a 12AWG wire—so far, so good, and not a problem. However, the controller comes with a short run of 18 AWG wires. My problem is appropriately connecting the 18 AWG wire to a 12 AWG wire. That is a significant size mismatch. For boats and cars, you can get step-down butt splices, but still not for such a size mismatch.
What is an appropriate way for airplanes to connect those different wires?

Thanks,
Christoph
