I would like to discuss an old patent - US Patent 3633849. It was filed on July 28, 1969. The patent discloses a flying craft in which a stationary cabin is supported within a rotating shell. It's like a gyroscope, reversely constructed. Instead of mounting a spinning disc on a stationary object, this idea incorporates the approachof supporting the stationary cabin inside a rotating body. Propeller-like fins are attached to the outer shell to provide lift and propulsive force for the craft. The outer shell is driven by any suitable means, such as jet or gas turbine engine means. To change the direction of flight, the tilt of the outer shell is changed, so as to push the craft in the desired direction. Means are provided for turning the cabin independently of the shell. Take a look at the patent, and tell me what you think. Is it feasible? I would love to build this!!I understand that most US patents have a maximum expiration date of 20 years after the filing date. This patent is clearly old enough to construct without any need for licensing.Andrewbontrager
