I have now spent a bunch more hours than I thought I would reading back through the newsletters etc. to get a "best practices" idea on using a handheld in the Sonerai. The plane that I have purchased appears- will know more after a little more digging- to have never had a wired in radio and only used a handheld. As part of the "restoration" checklist sorting the radio is right up there after sorting the instruments.
The problem I am running into is depending on who wrote what and when the "right way" bounces between just using the antenna the handheld comes with or using a wired in antenna. With the wired in antenna there seems to be a lot of back and forth about whether the antenna needs a ground plane, where to best mount it,, etc.

So I am at a lost. I have a newer Yaesu handheld and a rather old ICOM handheld, both work fine and so I plan to use them, I just need to get the antenna sorted out and I really do not want to get this thing in the air and figure out there is massive interference or no radio at all! Really do not wish to muck about with it over and over again.
Any input is very much appreciated!
