7075-T6 is 1/3 the weight of steel ....not as strong but 75k vs say 115k of a forged crankshaft....about 65% the strength.....I would think proper sizing of the crankshaft and other parts could lead to a reduction of weight......very easy to machine ....a quick search yielded 4" dia. 7075-T6 round stock......is it just design inertia here or is there other factors.
