Hi Homebuilt Airplanes Forum,

I'm about to become the new owner of a Velocity SE RG in a couple of weeks. You can see the listing here: BARNSTORMERS.COM Find Aircraft & Aircraft Parts - Airplane Sale, Jets, Helicopters, Experimental, Warbirds & Homebuilt .

The airplane has been stored for a couple of months outside in Virginia, but otherwise has been hangar kept throughout its life. It is currently in primer only, as you can see in the photos. I am planning on bringing the aircraft home to California in a couple weeks, and do not have a hangar secured for now, so will likely be tying it down to start with. I am wondering about the risk of UV damage with the aircraft in primer only in the California sun. Is primer enough? If it isn't, how long should I be worried about having it in the sun for? (days, weeks, months, years?)

I have called around a couple of shops on paint and gotten different answers on the timing / need of it. Hoping Homebuilt Airplanes Forum can bring me some answers!

Cheers,

Lochie
