Failure test of gussets for aluminum tube assembly.....When calculating Euler for these cross sections the critical failure is way above the Fcy or .7Fcy......so according to Bruhn the proper number is .7Fcy. I was only checking the flat sheet metal assembly for crippling....The square tube test was a general test to see what or if the book calculations made sense.....The round tube test are actual size elements of my spar structure.
I am not sure if the calculations are the appropriate ones and the geometric imperfections of the test could be a reason for the difference between any theory and the actual number ....however there certainly will be geometric imperfections in any actual assembly so I am hopping these test are valid.
