Antenna sealants

Notice a couple of antennas on Spruce are sold without a gasket, instead they ask you to use "3M™ AC-350 CLASS B AEROSPACE SEALANTS", something that is described as a fuel tank sealant. There is no description how to apply it in the context of an antenna mount. Do you apply it to the antenna and let it harden before mounting to form a gasket or are you supposed to mount it wet making it a more or less permanent connection? Would it be easy to disassemble in the latter case? Would it make a big difference to use simple RTV silicone instead?

Note: Comant Antennas no longer come with a gasket or template. Must order PN 09-05579 separately.
