There was an excellent presentation about what can go wrong on first flights on the SETP members site. I asked them if they could make this public, because there were many good lessons learned that should be distributed to teams and people involved in first flights. They agreed, so now there is a podcast available where the authors talk about some of those lessons learned, and a summary as pdf. Listen to it here:
Flight Test Safety Committee Podcast Channel - EP 52 – It’s First Flight, What Could Go Wrong?
This month we talk about a great looking airplane from the 60’s, supersonic black bears, and first flight anomalies. Joining me are Mr. Roy Martin and Mr. Mike Rabens who will share the research they have done into the things that happen on first flights of new aircraft.
