This is a Really DUMB question ; I just can't picture what's happening
here :
Why is the bevel at the end if the teeth of my new bendix , on the
back side ; shouldn't it be on the gear Face side ? I would have
thought , the theory would be , that the bevel allows the introduction of
the starter gear teeth into the ring gear teeth by the slant of the bevel , as
the bendix moves forward to engage
Below in this picture , the starter Bendx turns Clockwise , and the ring
gear with propeller turn Counter-clockwise ; the bevel is not on the
same side as where the teeth would come together .
